SPORTS CONCUSSION REHABILITATION

Sports concussion is a traumatic brain injury which occurs as a result of playing sport. The key to successful recovery and safe return to play after a sports concussion, is to ensure you have completed a medically supervised rehabilitation programme. Once you have been given clearance by a Doctor to begin rehabilitation, we take you through a progressive rehabilitation process and ensure you return to your sport in the quickest and safest way possible.

All sports concussion rehabilitation appointments are 60 minutes long.

BIKE FIT ANALYSIS FOR CYCLING RELATED INJURIES

If you are suffering with pain related to cycling, we can assess you on your bike to determine if your bike is set up optimally for you, or if you have any biomechanical or muscle imbalances which are contributing to your symptoms.

RUNNING ANALYSIS

If you are suffering with pain related to running, we assess your biomechanics, strength, flexibility, posture, balance and co-ordination in the clinic and when you are running. We use video capture to closely analyse your dynamic performance to determine the best course of treatment.

RETURN TO PLAY AFTER INJURY FITNESS TESTING

We are sports performance specialists and are able to take you through a battery of physical tests to clear you for return to play after an injury.

INJURY PREVENTION MOVEMENT SCREENING

We are movement experts and use special movement screening tests to determine if your body is moving optimally. From the results of the assessment we can advise on ways you can add pre-habilitation strategies to your training programme to minimise the risk of injury.

ANTI-DOPING EDUCATION

We have completed UK anti-doping advisor training and are able to give you advice on how to train and compete clean and teach you how to check your medications against the prohibited list.

RECOVERY PROGRAMMES

Timetabling effective recovery into your training and competition schedule is essential for keeping you fresh and minimising the risk of injury. We can analyse your schedule and advise on the most appropriate strategies to optimise your recovery. If you are due to compete abroad we are also able to advise on travel recovery programmes.

RUNNERS RECOVERY CLASS

Running is fundamental to many sports and is one of the most popular forms of exercise available to us. Running regularly can sometimes lead to muscle soreness and tightness, joint stiffness and pain. The worst thing that can happen to a runner is to become injured.

This exercise class is designed complement your running training, to help improve flexibility, strength and balance with the aim of minimising the risk of injury occurring and helping to treat any aches, pains or niggles you may have through running.

The class incorporates stretching, Pilates, balance and strengthening exercises in standing and lying using a variety of small exercise equipment such as bands, foam rollers and spiky balls.

This class is suitable for anyone who runs and would like to minimise their chances of picking up an injury, or if you suffer from recurrent niggles. Led by our specialist sports physiotherapist and clinic partner Jo Hipkiss, it is the perfect complement to your training programme.

Please note if you are currently injured a 60-minute physiotherapy assessment is needed prior to attending the class to ensure the exercises are tailored to your individual recovery needs.
